Sabbath Bread

אם תשיב משבת רגלך עשות חפצך ביום קדשי וקראת לשבת ענג לקדוש יהוה מכבד

"If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath and from doing as you please on my holy day, if you call the Sabbath a delight and the LORD's holy day honorable..." - Isaiah 58:13

In this study, Messianic Rabbi Stan Farr delves deeper into the subject of the Sabbath.

The Sabbath (or Shabbat, as it is called in Hebrew) is one of the more important yet widely misunderstood observances in all God's Festivals. To many Christians, the Sabbath is a day filled with burdensome restrictions. It is considered a day that was superseded by "the Lord's day," having found its ultimate fulfillment with the advent of Messiah.

But this idea of Sabbath couldn't be further from the truth. For those who observe Shabbat, the Sabbath is seen as a precious gift from God, a day of great joy that is met with eager anticipation for its arrival throughout the six days of the week. It is a time when friends and family can come together in order to set aside the concerns and demands of the busy week - a day of complete devotion towards higher pursuits.

In this short-four lesson series, Rabbi Farr explains why God commanded the Children of Israel concerning the Sabbath, and how the Messiah is revealed through it, and how it is relevant for both Jewish and non-Jewish believers in Messiah Yeshua today.
