Shabbat Mornings
Shabbat Shacharit: Service begins at 10:00 am, led by our cantor and musicians. The service consists of traditional prayers read by Jewish communities since ancient times. It also includes a Torah reading as well as midrashim (commentaries) led by our lay leaders on the weekly Torah portion.
Contemporary Service: At 11:00 am we offer a contemporary song service to make a unique hybrid of worship. Davidic dance and live music are incorporated to create a meaningful and interactive experience. The service includes a half hour sermon led by our clergy on a topical study or focus on a particular book of the Bible. This is an ideal service for those with a Christian background or anyone who may be new to a synagogue setting.
Note: Due to the rise of antisemitism, for security purposes, the exterior doors are locked each Shabbat at 11:15 am and will remain locked for the duration of the day.
Sar Shalom is a family-centered community dedicated to teaching and living out the Jewish foundations of messianic faith. It is our goal to provide a place of fellowship and an atmosphere of spiritual growth for believers of every ethnicity. We strive to identify with our Jewish heritage through the celebration of the Word of God, its Moedim (holidays) and instructions. It is our desire to create a place which fosters family and community while encouraging worship and study.
Family
Congregation Sar Shalom is a family community, encouraging and embracing young families. At Sar Shalom, a cry-room, feeding room for mothers with infants, over-flow, nursery and children's classes are all available to families during services. A weekly, shared meal after Saturday service contributes to the family atmosphere. We place a strong emphasis on the children's classes, making it fun for kids to learn the deep truths of God's Word. All of these elements combine to make Prince of Peace into a peaceful house for families.
Community
Kehilat Sar Shalom is a place to belong. The community at Sar Shalom is as diverse as the Body of Messiah, yet we are all one in him. Whether you are just curious about your Jewish heritage, just beginning your faith journey or already fully engaged in Messianic life, Congregation Sar Shalom is a place to find fellowship and acceptance. Our community was created for believers of all ethnicities to gather and celebrate our shared heritage together.
Worship
Our worship services combine the traditional liturgy and Torah service of the Synagogue with a contemporary, evangelical song service to make a unique hybrid of worship in spirit and in truth. Traditional Jewish folk dance and contemporary worship dance are incorporated to create a lively and interactive worship experience. Shabbat worship services are Saturdays at 10:00 AM.
Study
Our highest priority at Sar Shalom is the teaching and studying of God's Word. In addition to the Shabbat sermons and commentaries, we directly and indirectly sponsor several ongoing large and small group Bible Studies within the community at homes and in other churches. Discipleship classes are offered twice a year. Hebrew classes are available through the community. Children's classes are available on Shabbat mornings during the service. Members of the community are encouraged to study, learn, and to develop their own teaching skills. At Kehilat Sar Shalom, we study to learn and we learn to do.
Whether you are just visiting or looking for a home community, you are welcome at Sar Shalom. And may the true Prince of Peace, Yeshua, richly bless you and all that is yours.
