Kehilat Sar Shalom Synagogue

Our Synagogue

Our synagogue building, which seats 450 people in the main sanctuary, was constructed in 1965 as the home of Gemelus Chesed - an Orthodox Jewish Community formerly located in North Minneapolis. With the construction of this new nondescript and modern building, Gemelus Chesed became the first North Minneapolis synagogue to move to St. Louis Park.

In 1969, Sharei Zedeck sold the Morgan Avenue Shul in Northern Minneapolis, and merged with Gemelus Chesed. The new congregation was known as Gemelus Chesed Sharei Zedeck Congregation until 1973, when the name was shortened to Sharei Chesed.

In 2006, Sharei Chesed, which today serves the Jewish community as a modern Conservative synagogue, moved to their current location in Minnetonka.

Kehilat Sar Shalom purchased the old synagogue in 2016 from Twin City Fellowship. In many ways, we view its unique Jewish-Christian history reflective of our identity as a synagogue that brings together Judaism and faith that Yeshua (Jesus) is the promised Messiah of Israel.
